Jackfruit Idli/ कटहल/ फणस Idli/ ಹಲಸಿನ ಹಣ್ಣಿನ ಕಡುಬು/ಇಡ್ಲಿ
Most of you know this jackfruit idli, but here
I am sharing little bit different idli recipe taught by my grandmother.
Ingredients
- Idli Rava ¾ cup or Rice Rava
- Jackfruit 14-15 pieces
- Jaggery 5-7 tbsp (as per your taste)
- Sugar 1 tbsp (optional) (for extra taste)
- Coconut oil ½ tbsp for idli and ½ tbsp for greasing idli plate
- Salt ½ tbsp (as per your taste)
- Water 1 cup or 75ml (approximately)
Procedure
- Take 2-3 jackfruit pieces and cut into small pieces as shown in the below picture. Keep it aside
- Blend leftover jackfruit pieces along with water. Blend till it becomes a smooth paste, as shown in below picture.
- Wash Idli Rava and soak for 2-3 minutes
- Now take a vessel, add jackfruit paste, idli Rava, Salt, jaggery, sugar and mix well
- Once sugar and jaggery melt, add jackfruit pieces and mix well (you can also add 1-2 tbsp grated coconut in this time). Mix well and check the taste once
- Finally, add coconut oil to the idli batter and mix well, now Jackfruit idli batter is ready to pour
- Now, boil water in an idli steamer on a high flame.
- Meanwhile, grease your idli plates lightly with coconut oil and pour jackfruit idli batter to the idli plate
- When the water begins to bubble and steam up, place the idli plate in the steamer and steam for 35-40 minutes on a medium flame
- Once done switch off the gas stove. Open the lid and wait for 2-3 minutes to cool down. When cooled, the idli must not be wet on top.
- Remove the idlis with the help of a spoon and serve tasty jackfruit idli with ghee or coconut chutney.
