Banana Stuffed Idli

I have been missing some restaurants food in this COVID 19 lockdown. In those, Idlies in Jayanagar Bangalore is one of them. So I tried some of their Idli recipes at home.

In today's multi-post, I will be sharing Banana Stuffed Idli, Potato/Aloo stuffed Idli and Chocolate Idli.


Ingredients

  • Idli batter 
  • Banana 1-2 for 8-10 Idlis (chopped)
  • Fresh grated coconut 5 tbsp (2 tbsp for idli & 3 tbsp for coconut milk)
  • Milk 100ml or half glass
  • Sugar 2-3 tbsp
  • Elaichi powder ½ tbsp or elaichi 2
  • Salt to taste
Procedure

  • Add chopped banana to the mixer jar and blend smooth paste or you can mash with the help of hand. Now add grated coconut and mix well. Keep it aside

Idli Preparation
  • Boil water in an idli steamer on a high flame.
  • Meanwhile, grease your idli plates lightly with coconut oil (for extra taste) or oil/ghee and pour batter half of the Idli plate, stuff the banana pastes and spread idli batter on stuffed paste (as shown in below picture)
  • When the water begins to bubble and steamed up, place the idli plate in the steamer and steam for 12-15 minutes on a medium flame 
  • Once done switch off the gas stove. Open the lid and wait for 2-3 minutes to cool down. When cooled, the idli must not be wet on top
  • Remove the idlis with the help of a spoon and serve banana idli with coconut milk (if you have banana leaf serve on it. banana leaf will give you more taste)

  • For making coconut milk, add grated coconut, elaichi powder and sugar to the mixer jar and grind once.
  • Now you have to add 2-3 tbsp of milk and blend smooth paste.
  • Transfer it to the bowl, and add leftover milk and mix well. Serve with banana Idli
